Regent Park

Working with a multi-disciplinary team of consultants GD Economics staff members were responsible for preparing a master plan and strategy for the revitalization of Canada’s oldest and largest public housing project covering an area of 28 hectares (69 acres) and housing 7,500 people in 2083 units. This strategy was developed through an extensive community engagement process conducted through meetings and facilitated workshops in seven languages. The strategy addresses the physical, social and economic isolation of Regent Park and incorporates initiatives for mixing incomes and tenures, generating employment opportunities, enhancing education, promoting culture, respecting and building on diversity and providing community services.
